HOW WE TRAIN…

Training with INSIGHT means using positive, rewards-based training methods. These techniques utilize a myriad of motivators to reinforce desirable skills, ultimately teaching our dogs ‘good behavior’ in a safe, productive manner. Private sessions focus on real-life situations and provide management solutions that empower you (and your family) while simultaneously enhancing your relationship with your dog. INSIGHT Dog Training is committed to providing high quality training, informative feedback and proven solutions. INSIGHT training opposes those punitive, dominance-based training techniques which often result in ‘quick fixes’ but ultimately cause more long-term harm than good while damaging the owner-dog relationship.

DOG INSIGHTS…

Be your dog’s best ally. Be your dog’s voice. If your dog is not comfortable being petted, please ask people to refrain from doing so. If your dog is visibly uncomfortable in a given situation, respect his signals and remove him from the stressor at hand. Contact a trainer if you perceive an issue that needs to be addressed.

Clear, consistent rules will help your dog learn what you want and expect. A calm, confident and effective leader will likely yield the same qualities in their dog without necessitating ‘dominance’ to elicit submissive behavior.

THE INSIGHT FRAMEWORK…

Private training is an effective and convenient way for you and your dog to engage in a rewarding education together.

In addition to enjoying the ease and comfort of in-home coaching, you will also benefit from a highly customized training plan to fit your lifestyle and meet your individual needs and goals. Given the nature of one-on-one training many people find that this is a more efficient way to gain the knowledge and mechanical skills that they require to communicate effectively with their dog. Similarly, most dogs benefit considerably from this more focused, intensive framework and subsequently, the learning process is enhanced. Private sessions cater to flexible scheduling and work to accommodate the needs of learning in context, whether that be at home, at the park or elsewhere.

Quite often, it is the goal of many people to ensure that our dogs not only learn fluency in basic behaviors but that reliability is attained also in the presence of other dogs. It is for this reason that Gabby and Logan are trained as members of the INSIGHT team and work in many of the sessions.

In this way, INSIGHT DOG TRAINING endows clients with the skill-sets they require and equips their dogs with the ability to perform learned behaviors while eventually ‘proofing’ them in the presence of other dogs. This is a crucial component to any successful training program.
